Sweet idea for charity

Smile Asia Week will be celebrated at Ritz-Carlton hotels through May 10, with proceeds from a special cake going to support partners of Operation Smile for the second year running. The international medical charity provides treatment for children with cleft lips and palates. On the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, and Singapore, the RC pastry chefs will offer a Valhrona chocolate and banana cake (one pound, 288 yuan). Some hotels will offer related exhibitions and programs for kids. About 13,000 cakes were sold through the campaign last year, raising $400,000 for young smiles.

More info through www.smileasiaweek.org or local Ritz-Carlton hotels.
