Sureno chocolate tea

The boutique hotel Opposite House and luxury chocolatier Valrhona have teamed up to present a chocolate-themed afternoon tea at the hotel's Sureno restaurant through Feb 15.Priced at 158 yuan ($25.44) per set, the tea offerings include Dulcey Apricot Short Glass, Opalys Lemon Namelaka, P125 Chocolate and orange scones served with home-made chocolate spread, strawberry vanilla jam and organic acacia honey. 3 to 5 pm daily, Sureno at Opposite House, 11 Sanlitun Road, Chaoyang district; 010-6410-5240.

Black truffles at Opera Bombana

When the fragrant fungus is in season, it brings out the best in three-Michelin-starred chef Umber to Bombana. The HongKong-based chef comes to his Beijing restaurant with a special evening menu that starts with roast Hokkaido scallop, truffle-ladencourses of confit Japanese egg, tagliolini and roe deer loin and adessert finale of black-truffle ice cream with Chantilly cream, crispy hazel nut and pistachio.1,188yuan per person plus 10-percent service charge; add 500 yuan for wine pairing. Carnivore's Club with Yunnan flavor

East Beijing hotel will kick of fits 2015 Carnivore's Club series with guest chef SueZhou's Yunnan spin on chicken. The Dutch-Chinese chef of HaniGejiu Yunnan Restaurant and food educator and the hotel's executive chef Rob Cunningham present a four-course dinner that begins with Yunnan chicken soup served with crispy noodles, quail egg and herbs. Next, Yunnan Manto toast with chicken liver pate, the main course of roasted baby chicken marinated in a brine of sugar and salt with carrots, celery, Sichuan peppers, coriander and mint. The dinner ends with a modern twist on the traditional Yunnan tea dessert of ice cream, brulee and jasmine pastry.238 yuan per person with 15-percent service charge.
