Celebrate La Ba with porridge and garlic

Chinese people celebrate La Ba Festival with La Ba porridge, often made with rice, peanuts, green beans, red beans and lotus seeds. La Ba-picked garlic is often eaten in Northern China on this day as well.

Cloves of garlic are pickled in vinegar and left to rest in a cool place. It is said that only garlic pickled during the La Ba Festival will turn out green.
