A four-day carnival promoting cultural creativity in design was staged in Beijing's Phoenix Center during the National Day holiday.

The 2017 FOD Carnival, which ran from Oct 1 to 4, gathered designers from around the country. They brought their newest ideas to serve daily life.

Their works, including furniture, kitchenware and stationery, were publically exhibited at a major fair during the carnival.

The annual carnival is a crucial part of Beijing Design Week. It was organized by FOD, an online platform promoting designs of daily-use items, Creative Designer Salon of China and several academic institutions.

Industry forums, workshops enabling interaction between designers and the public, and exhibitions on preserving traditional craftsmanship were also staged.
