China's 19th-century birds on show

An ongoing exhibition showcasing illustrations of birds by French missionaries in China during the 19th century is currently underway in Beijing. It features 746 illustrations describing 416 species of birds, some of which are extinct.

The exhibition is part of the celebrations marking the 36th Beijing Bird Loving Week - an annual event designed at enhancing public awareness of biodiversity.
