'Doctor Strange' continues to lead Chinese box office

Disney and Marvel's "Doctor Strange" continued to lead the Chinese box office for a second week, earning 270 million yuan ($39.2 million) in the week ending November 13, China Film News reported Friday.

Starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Rachel McAdams, Doctor Strange has grossed a total of 570 million yuan since hitting Chinese screens on November 4.

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, a Hollywood war film directed by Ang Lee, debuted in second place this week, taking 81 million yuan since November 11.

One Piece Film Gold, a Japanese animation released on November 11, grabbed third place with 70 million yuan in Chinese theater sales in its first week.

Domestic comedy Scandal Maker took fourth place, raking in 35 million yuan last week after its release on November 11.

Rounding out the top five was Mr. Donkey, which took 29 million yuan last week.
