"Edge of Tomorrow," a sci-fi action film starring Tom Cruise, easily outperformed "X-Men: Days of Future Past" in its opening weekend, taking in 164.5 million yuan ($26.4 million.)

X-Men raked in 145.2 million yuan in the week ending June 8, according to a China Film News report on Tuesday. Not far behind was the action-thriller "Overheard 3," which took 110.2 million yuan.

Zhang Yimou's romance "Coming Home" came in fourth with 22.8 million yuan during the week. The fifth spot was taken by "Zhu Zhu Xia Zhi Yong Chuang Ju Ren Dao," the latest animated feature of the "GG Bond" series, with 14.5 million yuan.
