Lufeng police post huge reward for suspected drug trafficker

Police in southern China have posted a 1 million yuan ($153,800) reward for the capture of a suspected drug trafficker on the run since February last year.

Cai Yingluo escaped after police in Lufeng, Guangdong province, seized more than 2 metric tons of methamphetamine from a fishing boat on Feb 12 last year. 

The 29-year-old native of Boshe village, which used to be a major meth production base, was placed on the most-wanted list.

"Anyone who provides information that leads to the capture of Cai will receive the reward," the Lufeng public security bureau said on Tuesday.

Last year, police offered a 50,000 yuan reward for information on Cai's whereabouts.

It is not the first time Lufeng police have posted a high reward for a wanted fugitive.

In May, the city also offered 1 million yuan for Zheng Sen, another drug suspect. He was eventually detained on July 1 after a resident tipped off police about Zheng's location.
