China and Vietnam have established their first liaison office for drug control at Dongxing city in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to crack down on cross-border drug smuggling.

The liaison office will be composed of officers from the local police in Dongxing and will take up a command role in the cracking down of cross-boarder drug smuggling.

Seven more liaison offices will also be established in Guangxi and Yunan in the near future.

Local police in Qionglai city of Southwest China's Sichuan province are using rap music and MTV to convey anti-drug messages to the public.

Information about MTV, which uses police officers singing rap and choir songs to illustrate the danger that drugs pose, was posted on the official micro blog page of Qionglai police at Sina Weibo.

Tuesday is the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The local frontier inspection authority in Kunming, capital of South China's Yunnan province, has gone to the international capital airport to disseminate anti-drug messages to passengers. During the campaign, officers will distribute flyers, play anti-drug videos and explain the harmful effects of drug abuse to passengers at the airport.
