The morning session, titled "Heritage, Reimagined in Fashion", stood at the core of the forum, exploring how traditional crafts can move beyond static preservation and evolve with contemporary life. Panelists agreed that meaningful inheritance lies in integration into daily scenarios rather than symbolic retro reproduction.
"Intangible cultural heritage needs to truly enter daily life," Yu Zhujun, third-generation inheritor of Suzhou embroidery and founder of Hiembroid, said. "It does not have to stick to traditional forms — it can collide, be inherited, and recreated to fit contemporary preferences."
She noted that Suzhou embroidery has expanded from classic decorative pieces to custom couture and personalized portrait works, reaching younger audiences via new media and livestreaming to renew the millennia-old craft.
