The Spring/Summer 2027 Shanghai Fashion Week, themed Renewed Radiance, kicked off on Friday, with the Xintiandi main runway and MODE Shanghai Apparel and Fashion Exhibition launching in tandem, as the event explores a long-term growth path for China's fashion industry through creativity-commerce synergy.
Shanghai label HEMU staged the opening show, its 15th appearance at the event. Inspired by Dunhuang cultural heritage and ancient Silk Road weaving techniques, the collection integrates multiple intangible cultural heritage crafts including yunjin and song brocade. It marks the brand's first collaboration with Jin Wen, a national-level intangible cultural heritage inheritor of yunjin craftsmanship, to revive ancient textile aesthetics.
