Three generations of one Beijing family, and one ball of dough. The grandfather, Lang Shao'an, pinched the dramas of the street into miniature — opera heroes, peddlers, passers-by. His son worked at fingertip scale. Now Lang Jiaziyu, the third generation, carries the craft overseas.

What they shape is a skill. What it holds is a regard for ordinary people. What each generation invents is the idiom of its own time — a Chinese hand-gift, made for the world.
