In the early 1900s, large sections of Kucha's grotto murals were illegally cut away and dispersed across more than 20 museums worldwide. Built upon decades of academic verification, high-resolution imaging and mural restoration work, the exhibition realizes the "homecoming" of these displaced relics through faithful reproductions.
