Two elderly residents were injured in a conflict at a private nursing home in Nanchang, Jiangxi province, local authorities said on Wednesday. A joint investigation team from the high-tech development zone of Nanchang said the incident occurred at Younian Life Nursing Home on Aug 31.

A caregiver found two male residents, born in 1936 and 1957 respectively, injured during a routine inspection at 8:52 pm. The nursing home called emergency services and sent both residents to the hospital, while notifying their families.

The family of the older resident reported the incident to police later that night, and police have accepted the case for investigation. Both residents were in stable condition after treatment, according to the statement.

Local civil affairs authorities have summoned representatives of the nursing home for talks and ordered immediate corrective measures. Further action will be taken based on the investigation results.

The statement came after media reports about the incident, with the older resident's family raising concerns over the nursing home's rooming arrangement and potential safety risks.
