Parts of China-Laos Railway closed following Yunnan quake

A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck Mojiang county in Pu'er, Yunnan province, on Monday afternoon, causing delays to some passenger trains on the China-Laos Railway, according to CCTV News.

The quake occurred at 5:07 pm at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

To ensure passenger safety, China Railway Kunming Group activated an emergency response, closing affected railway sections and halting trains operating in the area. Track maintenance, signaling and communications, and power supply teams were dispatched to conduct comprehensive inspections of railway equipment, the report said.

Railway authorities have reminded passengers to monitor train schedule changes, check 12306 text notifications and station announcements before travelling and arrange their trips accordingly.

Refunds for delays or cancellations will not incur fees, and passengers can process them online via the 12306 mobile app, the authorities said.
