Sci-tech breakthroughs unveiled at Pujiang Innovation Forum in Shanghai

A wide range of the latest scientific and technological achievements were unveiled on Friday at the ongoing 19th Pujiang Innovation Forum in Shanghai, demonstrating China's innovation in diverse sectors such as brain-computer interfaces, next-generation computing, fusion energy, chip manufacturing processes, life sciences and healthcare.

In the field of brain-computer interfaces, the Lingang Laboratory collectively released seven original achievements with major breakthroughs, covering data processing, algorithm and application. Together, they are expected to promote the deep integration of brain-computer interfaces and artificial intelligence, drive the development of a new ecosystem for brain-computer data, and enhance the competitiveness of China's brain-computer industry.

SynSense showcased its Rigi series, one of the world's first neuromorphic sensing-computing integrated neural signal acquisition chips, which is designed for advanced medical and frontier neuroscience research. Built on a neuromorphic event-driven architecture that mimics the asynchronous firing behavior of neurons, it establishes a low-power, high-reliability and scalable neuromorphic hardware foundation for invasive brain-computer interface devices.

In the new-generation computing sector, ‌Shanghai Oriental TianSuan Technology Co Ltd officially launched a project with the goal of building a "gigawatt (GW)-class space-based computing infrastructure". It aims to extend intelligent computing capabilities from the ground into space and gradually forming a space-based intelligent service network, which can provide a robust computing foundation for the future development of the digital economy and AI.

In terms of fusion energy, Startorus Fusion introduced the compact-tokamak based repetitive reconnection-heated fusion reactor-1(CTRFR-1) device. Featuring a domestically developed and globally unique technology approach, the device is conducting technical validation for a more compact and cost-effective fusion re-actors.

For life sciences and healthcare, CARsgen Therapeutics Holdings officially unveiled its independently developed the Satricabtagene Autoleucel Injection (Satri-cel). As the world's first chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy approved for the treatment of a solid tumor, it offers a brand-new solution to address clinical challenges in treating advanced gastric and gastroesoph-ageal junction adenocarcinoma.

Co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the 2026 Pujiang Innovation Forum is running till Monday, with focus on sharing sci-tech innovation and shaping the future amid a new round of sci-tech revolution.
