Former Jiangxi official extradited to China

Zeng Nenggui, a former Jiangxi province official suspected of taking bribes, has been extradited to China after being arrested overseas, China's top anti-corruption watchdog said on Saturday.

Zeng, born in 1962, formerly headed the poverty alleviation and resettlement office in Ruijin of Jiangxi province. He is suspected of accepting bribes related to poverty alleviation projects.

He fled overseas in January 2024. The supervisory commission in Ruijin opened an investigation into him in August that year, and Interpol issued a Red Notice against him in January 2026.

Through international law enforcement and judicial cooperation, Zeng was arrested overseas and extradited to China in September.

An official with the Central Anti-Corruption Coordination Group's office for fugitive repatriation and asset recovery said Zeng's return was an important result of the Operation Sky Net 2026 campaign and ongoing efforts to tackle misconduct and corruption that directly affect the public.

The official said China will continue to deepen international anti-corruption cooperation and strengthen efforts to pursue fugitives and recover illicit assets.
