The autumn session of the Premier Hongqiao Carnival began in the Changning district of Shanghai on Tuesday, offering a splendid and unique cultural and tourism event to the public.

This year's carnival includes one grand performance, 10 benchmark activities, and 118 cultural and tourism activities covering all ages.

The grand performance will take place on the grassland in Shanghai Zoo on Sept 25. It will break the boundary between actors and the audience, and showcase the 40-year history of the Changning district. The performance will integrate natural water features, digital light and shadow, and diverse art forms, and finally end with interactive music and dance throughout the venue.

At the grand performance, Changning's travel project will be released, focusing on seven dimensions, including architectural reading, art immersion, and fashion customization. Meanwhile, the third round of Changning cultural and tourism consumption vouchers will be sent out, providing practical festival shopping benefits to citizens and tourists, thus kicking off a three-month carnival session.

Apart from the grand performance, a series of activities — including a garden party, cultural and tourism bazaars, a grassland music festival, and the Changning session of the third Shanghai International Light Festival — will be launched.

Additionally, between Sept 25 and Sept 27, themed shuttle buses will run between major commercial districts within Changning and the main venue of Shanghai Zoo, offering free rides to provide people with convenient access to various activities and allow them to enjoy the autumn streetscape of the Changning district along the way.
