An exhibition dedicated to 65 winners of the Lu Xun Literary Prize opened at Shanghai's Sinan Mansions on Wednesday, headlining the 2026 Sinan Literature Month, a citywide event running through September.
This year marks the 90th anniversary of Lu Xun's passing, and the ninth Lu Xun Literary Prize is being awarded in Shanghai.
Titled Lu Xun Literary Prize Winners at Sinan, the show is the inaugural exhibition at the newly opened Sinan Time Zone art gallery. Structured around three themes — time, text, and experience — it comprises eight sections, including a recreated writer's study, a literary cinema, and a five-senses reading installation. Moving beyond conventional text-and-photo displays, the exhibition blends immersive video, spatial installations, and interactive elements to make contemporary literature tangible.
The month-long festival features more than 100 events across four exhibitions, over 20 literary talks, and a dozen street performances. From Aug 25 to Sept 5, discussions under the Lu Xun Literature Week banner will explore inheritance, exchange, and innovation.
Other highlights include the return of the pop-up book fair, presenting 180 titles from 120 publishers, and Flower City publishing house's first Shanghai pop-up at Sinan Books. The festival also extends into Fuxing Park and the INS complex for evening programming under a "day-and-night Sinan" concept.
