Shanghai Grand Opera House started its first round of ticket sales on July 28, offering a total of 16 performances, including the operas Tosca, Aida, Der Rosenkavalier, and the Shostakovich Symphonies Cycle.

The new opera house, sitting on the eastern bank of the Huangpu River, took six years to construct and will open to the public on Oct 17. Earlier this year, Shanghai Grand Opera House announced the lineup of its opening season, which will run until Feb 20.

On July 24, the opera house launched its official mini-program on the leading Chinese social media platform WeChat, where ticket information was announced. Since then, there have been over 16,000 reservations across all platforms before tickets even went on sale.
