L'ECOLE, School of Jewelry Arts presents an exhibition in Hong Kong exploring coral's history, craftsmanship and cultural significance through 120 exhibits. CHINA DAILY

"By presenting tools, unfinished branches and finished jewels side by side, we hope visitors gain a deeper appreciation of the craftsmanship that transforms a raw branch into a work of art."

Berger-Rondouin says, "What fascinates me about precious coral is the way it carries meaning across cultures without losing its identity. From Mediterranean amulets to Qing (1644-1911) court ornaments and Himalayan ceremonial adornments, precious coral has long signified prosperity. It travels remarkably well geographically and symbolically. This exhibition shows how a material shaped by nature becomes layered with stories, beliefs and power as it moves through time."

L'ECOLE is also extending its educational program with an interactive space in the K11 MUSEA atrium through Aug 15.

Visitors can learn more about the school's exhibitions, courses, books, podcasts, and lectures, take coralthemed quizzes on their mobile phones, and redeem exclusive gifts at the school's fifth-floor gallery.
