An iron stick yam becomes a scepter, a green pepper becomes a fan, a coconut becomes a handbag and corn serves as a golden crown.
Six years ago, Hu quit her job as a teacher to help her parents with their mushroom business at home in Heping village. She wanted to promote mushroom sales by learning the skills of a vlogger and so she donned garments crafted from agricultural produce and accessorized with ornaments made from farm goods. In various fashion ensembles, she rides a tricycle with one hand and gazes coolly into the camera.
Every piece of clothing is personally handmade by Hu and her partners, from design to assembly. In the early days, they used fresh farm produce to create outfits. So as not to waste food, most creations were dismantled after the show for human consumption or livestock feed. Nowadays, most of the costumes are made from eco-friendly materials.
