China's Ministry of Water Resources activated a Level IV emergency response, the lowest in a four-tier system, for flood control in Sichuan province on Friday evening as heavy rainfall is forecast to trigger flooding and flash floods.
The ministry also issued an orange alert for mountain torrents, covering 21 county-level regions, including Heishui, Lixian and Jiuzhaigou, from 8 pm on Friday to 8 pm on Sunday.
