Typhoon Bavi projected to make landfall early Sunday

Typhoon Bavi, the ninth typhoon of the year, is expected to make landfall early Sunday along the coast between Wenling in Zhejiang province and Xiapu in Fujian province, according to the latest forecast issued by the National Meteorological Center at 6 pm on Friday.
The National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center has issued a red alert for high waves and an orange alert for storm surges, as per information published on its official website.
China has a four-tier color-coded warning system for severe weather, with red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
