Firefighters rescue 260 pigs after truck overturns in Shanxi

A truck loaded with live pigs suffered a sudden tire blowout on July 2 while traveling in Zuoquan county of Jinzhong, Shanxi province. The driver lost control, and the vehicle veered off the road into a roadside ditch and overturned, leaving 260 pigs trapped inside the sweltering cargo hold.

Upon receiving a rescue dispatch order, firefighters from the Zuoquan fire and rescue brigade rushed to the scene. Faced with the stifling heat inside the trailer, the rescuers set up water guns to douse the cargo compartment and cool the pigs.

A crane later arrived to lift and right the overturned truck, bringing the rescue operation to a close.
