Charity influencer travels 1,600 km to serve hot meals in flood-hit Guangxi
A domestic charity influencer has traveled about 1,600 kilometers from Henan province to the flood-hit Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to provide free hot meals for residents and rescue workers.
Video footage showed Zhao Zhansheng arriving in the disaster zone with ingredients for 6,000 servings of huimian, a traditional Henan noodle dish. Soon after his arrival, he began preparing breakfast, setting up cooking equipment, and lighting the stove.
In a recent video posted on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, a crowd could be seen lining up for meals. Zhao said he would stay at the site for several days to continue providing support.
"I received a request from local authorities saying emergency logistical support was needed due to the severe situation," Zhao told local media in Henan. "I immediately started preparing supplies. We brought vegetables, meat, eggs, tomatoes and other ingredients for huimian, along with prepared noodle sheets and flour."
Local media reported that Zhao is a logistics coordinator with a civilian rescue team in Henan. For years, he has traveled at his own expense to disaster-hit areas across China, providing hot meals for affected residents and rescue workers.
