Most parts of Nanning have been hit by heavy rain since Saturday, with localized extreme downpours causing rivers and reservoirs to swell rapidly, according to the committee.
Meteorological authorities forecast that rainfall around the Liuwang and Liulan reservoirs is expected to weaken, offering some relief to ongoing flood-control efforts. No casualties have been reported so far, the committee added.
