Ma Lin, deputy Party secretary of Longgang township, said rescuers had urgently deployed four inflatable boats after a kindergarten was cut off by fast-rising water. "The roads around the kindergarten were completely flooded, leaving the children trapped inside and unable to leave on their own," he said. More than 50 children were later taken to safety by firefighters and local officials.
Emergency, fire, police, power, and telecoms teams joined the rescue effort, along with the Blue Sky Rescue Team. Firefighters also carried out door-to-door checks using boats and loudspeakers to make sure residents had left flooded areas.
