CPPCC Shanghai committee concludes annual plenary session
The annual plenary session of the Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, or CPPCC, the city's political advisory body, completed its agenda and concluded on Thursday.
Presiding over the closing meeting, Hu Wenrong, chairman of the CPPCC Shanghai committee, highlighted that the city's CPPCC members engaged in in-depth consultations, offered insightful advice, and helped build consensus, which reflects the institutional advantages of this specialized consultative body and vividly demonstrates the vitality of whole-process people's democracy.
A total of 1,093 proposals were received from CPPCC members during this year's session, covering the city's economic, political, cultural, social, ecological aspects among others. The majority of the proposals, totaling 476, focused on economic development. After a thorough review of all submissions, 936 proposals were officially filed for further consideration.
