The beloved anthropomorphic bear siblings, the Boonie Bears, are set to return to theaters during the Spring Festival holiday, the country's most lucrative box-office season of the year.

Boonie Bears: The Hidden Protector marks the latest adventure in the long-running franchise, which has boasted more than 1,300 animated episodes and over 10 feature-length films. The latest installment is also the franchise's first fantasy story with an East Asian aesthetic, following five previous sci-fi-themed movies.

Set in a mysterious city where all residents possess superhuman abilities, the new film delivers surprising twists for its iconic characters. The bold Vick, previously a lumberjack, sprouts thick, wild hair; the younger bear discovers two mysterious horns growing from his head; and the most enigmatic transformation befalls the older bear, whose body becomes adorned with glowing golden patterns.
