Legendary British rock band Suede and China's leading music company Modern Sky have officially announced a strategic copyright cooperation.

Modern Sky will be fully responsible for the distribution, promotion, and copyright management of Suede's music on the Chinese mainland, including the band's new album set to be released in September.

Known for its significant contribution to the growth and development of British indie rock, the band consists of lead vocalist Brett Anderson, guitarist Richard Oakes, bassist Mat Osman, drummer Simon Gilbert, and keyboardist Neil Codling.

Their self-titled debut album Suede (1993) became the fastest-selling debut album in the UK in the previous decade.

The collaboration between the band and Modern Sky covers Suede's complete music catalog released throughout their career, including classic hits and future releases. With its extensive experience in copyright operations and a well-established distribution network, Modern Sky will become the official copyright partner for this legendary British rock band on the Chinese mainland.

In recent years, Modern Sky has accelerated its global business expansion. Since launching in 2007, the Beijing-headquartered company has expanded into international markets by establishing branches in New York and Liverpool. Between 2015 and 2018, the company's first international music festival, the Modern Sky Music Festival, was held in Central Park, New York City, and later expanded to cities such as Helsinki, Finland; Seattle and Los Angeles in the United States; and Toronto, Canada. In 2024, Modern Sky established a branch in Tokyo known as Modern Sky Japan.

This collaboration with Suede not only opens the door for the band to enter China's vast music market but also marks another significant step in Modern Sky's internationalization strategy. It enriches Modern Sky's international landscape and signifies a deeper connection between the Chinese music market and global rock legends.
