Capturing the authentic heartbeat of Beijing

Chinese writer Wen Zhen emphasized the contemporary value of Beijing literature in breaking through the symbolic imagination of Beijing to portray the lives of ordinary people. She stressed the importance of conveying the daily pulse, warmth, and vivid language of ordinary Beijing residents to the world, embodying Lao She's idea that "even the commoners have their own dignity."

She pointed out that since the reform and opening-up, Beijing and even China have undergone profound changes, which urgently need to be recorded and translated more, allowing the world to "see" the real Beijing through literature.

It is reported that the "Visit Beijing" event is organized by the Beijing Federation of Literary and Art Circles and co-organized by Beijing Lao She Literature Academy and China National Publications Import & Export (Group) Co., Ltd..

As the event concluded, the experiences of Chinese and foreign guests exploring the canal and visiting the museum added historical depth and personal warmth to the literary dialogue.

Egyptian sinologist Ahmed Zarif Daif Mohammed remarked on the shared ancient civilization between Egypt and China, expressing keen interest in the "dual historical and artistic value" carried by the museum's collections. Italian sinologist Jacopo Maria Lasala, who had studied at Luhe High School in Tongzhou, marveled at the remarkable transformation of the eastern part of Tongzhou compared to over twenty years ago.

The azure waves of the Grand Canal reflect a cultural understanding and resonance transcending time and space, as Beijing's stories, propelled by the boat of literature and translation, sail toward a broader world.
