Program to discover short-film talent launched at Cannes

Shine One Program, an initiative to discover emerging talents with international perspectives and invigorate Chinese cinema, was launched during a sideline event at the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
Jointly organized by China's prestigious Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival and short-video platform Douyin, the program centers on the theme of "discovery". On May 20, it opened global submissions for original short films, with each entry limited to 15 minutes.
The program's jury panel will conduct a three-round selection process to ultimately choose three winners from the 30 short-listed entries. The winners will receive support to develop their drafted projects into fully produced short works.
Three renowned Chinese stars — actors Huang Xiaoming and Xiao Yang as well as actress Zhou Dongyu — have served as the project's initiators. Zhou, who attended the Cannes launch ceremony, expressed her hopes for young filmmakers, encouraging creators to channel their passion into their works and share their unique visions with the world.
