Jiangnan exhibition

Jiangnan is not only a geographic term referring to the southern part of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, but it is also synonymous with works of art and literature, a fine natural environment and rich cultural traditions. Its accumulation of history is vividly presented in the paintings and calligraphic pieces of the Wu School of Painting, an art group thriving in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, a hub of Jiangnan that was home to artists and intellectuals in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

The Memories of Jiangnan, showing at the He Xiangning Art Museum in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, has gathered artworks and antiquities from Wu school members, some that once decorated a scholar's studio, and pieces from several museums across the country, showing the art landscape of Suzhou and Jiangnan.

It offers a glimpse of the affluent material production in the area and also the spiritual life inspired by leading artists, scholars and personas, who influenced the arts and culture.

9 am-5 pm, closed on Mondays.9013 Shennan Dadao, Nanshan district, Shenzhen, Guangdong province. 0755-2660-4540.
