Landscape views

Introducing oil painting and watercolors from the West allowed Chinese artists to explore different mediums when depicting landscapes. As they progressed with more ease, they also looked to combine the Western methods of painting with Eastern aesthetics and take on the relations between men and nature.

Landscape, an exhibition running until Oct 20 at Long Museum in Shanghai, brings together more than 200 paintings and photos offering views of nature and human society since the 1920s. It shows the efforts of homegrown artists building a bridge to connect Chinese and Western art over the past century, to widen people's vision of the world through their works.

10 am-6 pm, closed on Mondays.3398 Longteng Avenue, Xuhui district, Shanghai. 021-6422-7636.
