A decade on, diplomats praise BRI mission
The Belt and Road Initiative, proposed by China 10 years ago, has brought about tangible results and boosted win-win cooperation between China and participating countries, according to numerous ambassadors to China.
On Tuesday, ambassadors and diplomats from 18 countries, including Pakistan, Laos, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, visited the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, China's top political advisory body.
They toured an exhibition to learn the history of the CPPCC and China's consultative democracy, and participated in a forum with CPPCC National Committee members to exchange views on the role of consultation in deepening Belt and Road cooperation.
Moin ul Haque, Pakistan's ambassador to China, said the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the flagship project of the BRI, has transformed Pakistan's socioeconomic landscape and brought tangible benefits to its people.
The BRI, paved with the principles of peaceful coexistence, good neighborliness and win-win cooperation has brought nations together in harmony, transcending differences and working toward shared prosperity, he said.
Khamphao Ernthavanh, Lao ambassador to China, said the BRI has created the chance for the improvement of transportation, infrastructure and technical systems, which are crucial for the socioeconomic development of small countries.
"We strongly believe that the BRI will bring more opportunities for the participating countries around the world," she said, adding that the China-Laos Railway that opened in 2021 is a landmark high-quality Belt and Road cooperation project that boosts the development of Laos.
Farhod Arziev, ambassador of Uzbekistan to China, said that the BRI is playing an important role for many countries, including Uzbekistan, in driving partners to flourish in extended areas such as health, environment and culture.
Wang Dongfeng, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, said China will always adhere to the policy of good neighborliness and partnership with neighboring countries.
He said China will continue to work hand in hand with neighboring countries to jointly discuss, build and share in the Belt and Road Initiative, making new contributions to common development, prosperity and the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
