China will spearhead a glorious and victorious future for Chinese nationals under the guidance of Xi Jinping and the new Cabinet lineup, South Asia's political leaders said while applauding Xi on his reelection as president of China.

They said the new leadership will ensure peace and stability across the globe in these challenging times while setting China on its path to becoming a modern, prosperous, harmonious and egalitarian country.

Extending congratulations to Xi on his election as president, Mariam Alexander Baby, senior politburo member and head of international department, Communist Party of India (Marxist), or CPI-M, said: "We wish and hope that Xi will be able to lead the People's Republic of China and the Communist Party of China with all of their resources, and that he will take necessary steps to address China's problems.

"We are optimistic that, under the leadership of the CPC, China will become one of the most significant political and economic powers in the world. The PRC, under the leadership of Xi, it is hoped, will create a progressive society in China that is more egalitarian, equitable, harmonious and prosperous," he told China Daily.

Chief Minister of Kerala state of India and Politburo member of CPI (M), Pinarayi Vijayan, in a text message to China Daily, described Xi's leadership as crucial in facilitating China's progress toward establishing a socialist society and transforming the nation into a major player in global trade, commerce, and international relations. He further expressed his hope for China's continued advancement under Xi's leadership in the future.

'Prominent voice'

"Revolutionary greetings to President Xi on his reelection as the President of the People's Republic of China. It is truly commendable that China has emerged as a prominent voice in global politics. Best wishes for the continued efforts to achieve a more prosperous China," Vijayan tweeted later.

D. Raja, general secretary of the Communist Party of India, or CPI, told China Daily: "On behalf of the CPI and on personal behalf as a general secretary of CPI, we convey our revolutionary greetings and best wishes to Comrade Xi Jinping on his election as president. We express our hope and wish that China would emerge more prosperous under his leadership and China will play a significant role in international global politics, peace and development."

Xi's reelection will lead to stability in China, Saugata Roy, senior leader of Trinamool Congress, a regional party governing West Bengal state of India, said.

Senior leader of Revolutionary Socialist Party and member of Indian Parliament N.K. Premachandran, while congratulating Xi, said he hopes the older issues between China and India would be resolved in a very friendly manner.

India and China should grow together toward peace and development because the two Asian giant countries have to grow together, he noted.

Rashed Khan Menon, chairman of the Workers Party of Bangladesh, or WPB, told China Daily by phone that the WPB congratulates Xi on his election as Chinese president.

"Under his leadership, the Chinese government would be able to carry out the goals set by the 20th National Congress of the CPC and make China further strong both economically and militarily to face the challenge of imperialism and make the world a peaceful abode of mankind," said Menon, a veteran communist leader from Bangladesh.

Dilip Barua, general secretary of Communist Party of Bangladesh (Marxist-Leninist), has also "congratulated Comrade Xi Jinping" on his unanimous reelection as president of China, in a phone interview.

"We hope that under the dynamic leadership of President Xi, the Chinese people will build upon the glorious and victorious future on the new journey to realize the 'second centenary goal' and the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation on the new journey that lies before them in the new era," he said.

Talking over the phone from Kathmandu, Madhav Kumar Nepal, chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) and former Nepali prime minister, told China Daily: "We feel happy to greet him.

"China will play a very important role in world politics and in maintaining world peace under the leadership of Xi. Chinese people will be more prosperous and will get new momentum."
