Shanghai reported one locally transmitted COVID-19 confirmed case outside of quarantine and lockdown communities on Monday, the Shanghai Health Commission said at a press briefing.

The patient is a 22-year-old woman living in Shanggang Xincun subdistrict in Pudong district. The woman, who is fully vaccinated, went to a fever clinic after showing symptoms.

Zhao Dandan, deputy director of the Shanghai Health Commission, said 125 close contacts of the patient have been identified and put under quarantine as of 4 pm Monday.

On Sunday, Shanghai registered a local COVID-19 asymptomatic infection. Epidemiological investigations showed both infections reported on Monday and Sunday had been to a commercial area on Lanxi Road in Putuo district.

Sun Xiaodong, deputy director of the Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said nearly 4.02 million residents aged 60 or older in the city have received COVID-19 vaccines by Sunday. Among them, 2.63 million have completed a full course of vaccination.

"Since the beginning of June, the city has vaccinated 173,000 elderly residents living in communities and nursing facilities," Sun said.
