Despite undergoing long-term dialysis, Wang Ji remains deeply committed to advancing scientific research, nurturing his students and meeting the needs of the country. He lost both legs, yet says he still "lives in the light every day". He is a recipient of the honorary title "Role Model of the Times".

For more than three decades, Wang has dedicated himself to high-confidence software research, tackling difficult problems in response to the needs of the country and the military. Even after a life-changing illness, he returned to his research post, using his wheelchair as his post on the front line of national defense research. Fate changed the way he moves forward, but never his commitment to serving the country through science and technology and contributing to a strong military.

Zhang Zhaoxing and Qin Huali contributed to this story.
