Hotan jade festival opens in Xinjiang with riverside jade hunts

As part of the 16th Hotan Jade Culture and Tourism Festival, which opened on Monday in Hotan, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, eager explorers have had a chance to hunt for the stone along the Yurungkash River throughout the week.

A maximum of 800 visitors each day have immersed themselves in the riverside experience to discover the allure of Hotan jade up close.

The festival also features a jade carving competition and an exhibition at the Hotan Museum, as well as a variety of lectures, performances, jade trading, and travel promotion events.
