Chongqing is shortened to "Yu" in Chinese and Yu branch of filigree inlay art is Gu's focus. "Filigree inlay of Yu branch is really inclusive as it combines the advantages of other branches, so it can be used to create modern handicrafts," said Gu.

He added that this intangible cultural heritage is on the verge of extinction, as nowadays not many young people are mastering it. "I don't want to feel regret when this technique fades away in the future. As one of the young generation, I want to master this technique and pass it down." Gu went back to Chongqing to learn it in 2017, and became a craftsman on Yu branch of filigree inlay art.
