Shanghai records one local COVID-19 case

Shanghai reported 65 new locally transmitted COVID-19 infections on Saturday, of which 64 were asymptomatic, the municipal government said on Sunday.
The one confirmed case and 60 asymptomatic ones were close contacts of the previously reported cases and were diagnosed during quarantine. The rest were discovered when nucleic acid tests of people with risk of exposure to the virus were conducted.
The municipal government said late Saturday that all the residents should avoid unnecessary trips out of the city to curb the virus' further spread. It also said all the individuals with unavoidable reasons to leave the city or travel to the city must hold negative nucleic acid test report taken within 48 hours.
Also, starting on Monday, all the primary, junior high and senior high school students in the city will switch to online learning and all the kindergartens will suspend classes.
Most universities and colleges in the city have started closed-loop management.
More than 100 parks and all the city's cinemas have been shut down. Beginning Sunday, visitors to the Shanghai Disneyland must hold negative nucleic acid test reports within 24 hours.
From March 1 to 12, Shanghai reported a total of 544 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, including 504 asymptomatic ones, in this current outbreak.
The office leading the city's epidemic prevention said on Friday that the latest local infections in most districts were caused by contaminated environment of imported cases that led to the virus leaking to the public due to loopholes in the management protocol.
