2 dead, 3 injured in Northeast China blast

SHENYANG -- Two people died and three others were injured in a blast in the city of Benxi, Northeast China's Liaoning province, local authorities said Tuesday.
The blast happened at around 10:50 am Tuesday in a workshop of a pharmaceutical company in Benxi, according to authorities in the city's high-tech zone.
Two people who were seriously injured in the blast died in a hospital despite emergency treatment.
An investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.
