According to the China Tourism Academy, red tourism last year drew over 660 million tourist visits in China, accounting for nearly 12 percent of total domestic tourist visits in China.

Huang Xiaorong, vice-head of the department, said Beijing and Jiangxi province are an important tourist source market for each other, and the promotional event aims to boost cooperation in culture and tourism between the two parties.

Beginning July 18, Jiangxi's AAAA and AAAAA scenic areas have been giving primary school, middle school and university students free tickets, which will last until Sept 18. AAAAA refers to the highest level in China's official rating system.
