The conservatory started research on musical connections among countries along the Silk Road in 2014. And, since then, Yu and his team visited many countries to get to know foreign musicians better. And they also found that many were interested in Chinese music.

"We believe this event will promote such connections," Yu says.

The second conference of the Music Education Alliance Across the Silk Road was opened by a concert featuring the chamber music group of the Central Conservatory of Music, which played works by Chinese composers, including Zhao Jiping and Liu Chang, and musicians from Sri Lanka performing percussions.

On April 30, a concert of Turandot, which is Giacomo Puccini's final opera, was held at the opera hall of the Central Conservatory of Music, featuring symphony orchestras, s chorus and a children choir of the Central Conservatory of Music, under the baton of conductor Chen Bing.

The conference ended with a concert on May 1 performed by musicians from seven countries.
