2. Bright Red Star

This original Chinese ballet production premiered at the Shanghai International Dance Center on Oct 24. Based on a 1974 movie of the same name, the ballet portrays Pan Dongzi, a boy who was abused and persecuted by an evil landlord and grows up to become a Red Army soldier. This Shanghai Ballet production is choreographed by Zhao Ming, with Wu Husheng assuming the leading role.
