Chinese artist Huang Yue, known for his flower and bird oil paintings, exhibited a range of artworks at the House of Lords in Ireland on May 31. The exhibit was attended by 19 former government chiefs and major politicians.
Ahern Bertie, former prime minister of Ireland, made a speech at the opening ceremony of Huang's exhibition. He delivered a message from Irish President Michael D. Higgins who hoped Ireland would deepen its communication with China in culture and art.
Huang was further invited to sign his name on the world celebrity list at the House of Lords in the opening ceremony – a place in which some of Huang's paintings will remain permanently.
Prior to the event, Huang and staff from the public art foundation were invited to the president's residence to meet the Irish President. Huang presented two colored ink lotus paintings to the president, as a gift, during the visit.
Many of the artworks crafted by Huang, which fuse Chinese and Western styles, have won international awards and have been collected by art galleries and celebrities around the world.
