Ukraine's parliament approved Yatsenyuk as the country's new prime minister in late February. The 39-year-old politician, economist and lawyer is one of the most prominent figures in Ukraine's pro-European protests. He served as economy minister, foreign minister, and parliament speaker between 2005 and 2008.

Analysts believe that in a situation where the country is on the brink of economic disaster, Yatsenyuk, who has a reputation of being an intelligent manager, will focus on cooperation with countries that can financially help Ukraine.

Yatsenyuk said he would not run for president in the upcoming elections scheduled for May 25.
