Republic of Congo gets library dedicated to China

By Han Bingbin | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2013-04-01 17:20
People in the Republic of Congo interested in Chinese culture will be able to watch as many as 341 documentaries and feature films at Ngouabi University's newly launched China Library to guide them into an exploration of modern China's dynamic society.

All the videos are provided by China's State Council Information Office.

Dubbed in English and French, the videos capture traditional and modern China through various cultural and social aspects such as cuisine, architecture, fashion design and infrastructure construction.

Artistic quality is guaranteed as the videos include some of the country's best productions such as hit documentaries A Bite of China and award-winning films Forever Enthralled (2008) and Mountain Patrol (2004).

In addition to the videos, the China Library will also feature a collection of more than 10,000 books, which will be regularly updated. During a friendship tour to the Republic of Congo, the information office's deputy director Wang Guoqing said he hoped the library will serve as a long-term platform "where the Republic of Congo will come to understand Chinese culture and China's development and changes".
