Two shot outside US county courthouse

WASHINGTON - Two people were shot outside of a county courthouse in the US state of South Carolina, local media reported on Wednesday.

The shooting took place outside the Chesterfield County Courthouse Wednesday afternoon, and the victims were shot in a vehicle, WBTV, which serves the Charleston area, reported.

Sheriff Sam Parker said the incident happened just before 1 p.m. outside the courthouse. Deputies were quoted as saying that someone pulled up to a car sitting outside the courthouse and fired shots at the two people inside.

At this point there was no report of injuries or fatalities.

Deputies chased the suspect 12 miles into Pageland, forcing the suspect to crash his vehicle. The suspect has been arrested but his identity has not been released. The investigation is still ongoing.
